چکیده

Gender Recognition is important in different commercial and law enforcement applications. In this paper we have proposed a gender recognition system through facial images. We have used a different technique that involves Bandlet Transform instead of previously used Wavelet Transform, which is a multi-resolution technique and more efficiently provides the edges of images, and then mean is combined to create the feature vectors of the images. To classify the images for gender, we have used fuzzy c mean clustering. Experimental results have shown that average 97.1% accuracy have been achieved using this technique when SUMS database was used and 93.3% was achieved when FERET database was used. Keywords----Bandlet, Gender Recognition, Fuzzy C-mean, Multi Resolution.

Palmprint Recognition by using Bandlet, Ridgelet, Wavelet and Neural Network

Palmprint recognition has emerged as a substantial biometric based personal identification. Tow types of biometrics palmprint feature. high resolution feature that includes: minutia points, ridges and singular points that could be extracted for forensic applications. Moreover, low resolution feature such as wrinkles and principal lines which could be extracted for commercial applications. This ...

What drives social in-group biases in face recognition memory? ERP evidence from the own-gender bias.

It is well established that memory is more accurate for own-relative to other-race faces (own-race bias), which has been suggested to result from larger perceptual expertise for own-race faces. Previous studies also demonstrated better memory for own-relative to other-gender faces, which is less likely to result from differences in perceptual expertise, and rather may be related to social in-gr...

Attention Modifies Gender Differences in Face Recognition*

Gender differences favoring women have been found in face recognition, and in addition to this, it has been shown that women remember more female than male faces. This own-gender effect may be a result of women directing more attention towards female faces, resulting in a better memory. The aim of this study was to assess the role of attention for gender differences in face recognition and wome...

Face gender modulates women's brain activity during face encoding.

Women typically remember more female than male faces, whereas men do not show a reliable own-gender bias. However, little is known about the neural correlates of this own-gender bias in face recognition memory. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), we investigated whether face gender modulated brain activity in fusiform and inferior occipital gyri during incidental encoding of fac...

In infancy the timing of emergence of the other-race effect is dependent on face gender.

Poorer recognition of other-race faces relative to own-race faces is well documented from late infancy to adulthood. Research has revealed an increase in the other-race effect (ORE) during the first year of life, but there is some disagreement regarding the age at which it emerges. Using cropped faces to eliminate discrimination based on external features, visual paired comparison and spontaneo...
